    Requirements

    • Experience in problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically, creatively, and independently
    • Strong understanding of ITSM processes, especially in Incident, Problem, and Accept into Service Management
    • Technical knowledge in Cloud and On-Prem Network Infrastructure, Next-Generation Firewall, Load-balancing, and PKI technologies
    • Proficiency in network monitoring and analysis tools like BMC Entuity, Wireshark, and NetScout
    • Availability to work as part of a 24/7 rota, including mornings, days, evenings, and overnight shifts

    Salary Details

    The salary for this role ranges from £40,201 to £48,347. A Digital Allowance of up to £5,000 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on the department’s assessment of your skills and experience.

    About the Role

    As a Network Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting and maintaining the DWP’s extensive network infrastructure. This includes both legacy systems and cutting-edge technologies across Wi-Fi, On-Prem Data Centers, and Cloud solutions. The role requires a hands-on approach, with responsibilities ranging from operational support and BAU work to involvement in key projects aimed at driving technological improvements.

    Key tasks include providing support for incident and problem resolution, implementing BAU exercises, and conducting network monitoring and analysis. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will interact with colleagues across all levels of the organization and with third-party suppliers.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide operational support for incident and problem resolution, potentially involving out-of-hours work
    • Implement BAU exercises, which may require out-of-hours work
    • Monitor and analyze network performance using tools like BMC Entuity, Wireshark, and NetScout
    • Maintain and support Cloud and On-Prem Network Infrastructure, Next-Generation Firewall, Load-balancing, and PKI technologies
    • Contribute to service improvements and ensure the stability of legacy infrastructure
